ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Maintenance Supervisor, you will report to the Head of Maintenance and Estate Services, being responsible for ensuring the smooth running of upkeep and repair operations. This will involve supervising the Groups small inhouse maintenance team whilst allocating and carrying out work to our buildings and ensuring that they are in a good and safe condition at all times.

Rota: Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00 

ABOUT YOU

We're looking for an effective leader, you will be able to motivate, and empower a team to deliver the given work in a timely manner, to high standards. You will have proven working knowledge of various trades which will be relevant within the role, such as Carpentry and Plumbing. You will have a good eye for detail, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and use your own initiative to resolve any challenges that may arise. You will have strong rapport building skills with stakeholders at all levels including within and outside the organisation.

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Management 

  • Provide high quality support and line management to staff. Offer guidance, support and advice to the team, supporting them as a leader. 
  • Responsible for management and leadership of employees and the employee lifecycle, 
  • Build strong internal relationships across the organisation.
  • Proactively embed a culture of learning, development and evaluation. Promote a team working dynamic which is supportive and empowering.
  • Delegate tasks, and responsibilitie across the team, ensuring adequate staff levels at all times. 

Operational

  • Ensure our properties and estates are kept to required standards.
  • Significantly contribute to a professional, customer focused delivery of our services.
  • Utilise the organisations systems in day to day activities.
  • Manage the day to day inspections, repairs, and cyclical works.
  • Manage and monitor inventories of materials and equipment, ensuring supplies are ordered in a timely manner.
  • Act as an active member of the team, supporting with daily tasks.
  • Deputise for the Head of Maintenance and Estates when required.
  • Admin will vary.

Financial

  • Contribute to the development and management of the maintenance budget and monitor expenditure. 

Health, Safety, and Environment

  • Ensure best practice in health, safety, and environment, ensuring this is in the forefront of all operations and tasks carried out by yourself and the team, reporting any risks, incidents, and accidents in the correct manner. 

Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position. 

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

  • IT Proficiency, with the ability to navigate and learn systems and other types of software
  • Recognised building trader qualification such as a City & Guilds, NVQ Level 2, equivalent or above
  • Experience in completing Risk Assessments within the workplace
  • Previous experience in a similar role, including in maintenance and estate services
  • Able to influence and negotiate positive outcomes with others
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet the demands and needs of the organisation, providing an emergency on call service as and when required in case of emergency

What we would like, but not essential:

  • Previous Management experience
  • Experience in directing and delivering customer service functions
  • Gas Safe Registered
  • Previous training and/or qualifications in Legionella Awareness, Asbestos Management and Fire Safety
  • Experience of helping to develop and implement maintenance plans, strategies and procedures
