ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a night Recovery Worker to join the team in successfully rehabilitating and reintegrating our residents and participants back into the community. Providing pathways, support and appropriate interventions that will enable successful resettlements and work with internal and external partners and agencies to achieve desired outcomes.

Shift Pattern: As this is a 24/7 service, the shift pattern can vary, you will work 37.5 hours per week between 8pm to 8.30am which includes weekends, bank holidays and holiday periods

ABOUT THE SERVICE

A 27-bed residential property specialising in forensic mental health, complex needs and dual diagnosis. We offer psychologically-informed housing and resettlement support that comes with additional help for individuals’ specific needs. Our forensic mental health step-down services consist of four individual sites which cater for high and medium support for both, men and women.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for an effective communicator, who is able to build rapport with others from various backgrounds, respecting equality, diversity and inclusion. You will be compassionate, supportive, and empowering to others, whilst able to form effective, positive and motivational relationships.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a Recovery Worker for a caseload of Residents and Participants (R&), contributing to the development of support plans, risk assessments, and reviews.
  • Provide advice, guidance, information, and life skills training to R&Ps.
  • Carry out welfare checks, ensuring the night service runs smoothly.
  • Ensure R&Ps understand their rights and responsibilities and have access to the right tools and resources to support them back into the community. For example, supporting with welfare benefit claims and signposting them to the correct provisions.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external persons and agencies.
  • Support R&Ps to take correct medication.
  • Assist with health and safety and other site related maintenance and management.
  • Admin duties will vary.

Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position. 

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

  • Experience of working with people of complex backgrounds, ex-offenders, mental health, substance misuse, challenging behaviours or a good understanding of the sector
  • IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, basic Microsoft experience
  • Understanding of the housing and social needs of people with multiple and complex needs
  • Able to influence and negotiate positive outcomes with others

What we would like, but not essential:

  • Appropriate professional qualification: NVQ/Diploma Level 2 in Health & Social Care/Community Justice or professional equivalent
  • Experience of providing housing support and practical assistance within a residential or outreach support role
  • Experience creating co-produced support plans and providing appropriate interventions for service user and liaising with other professionals
