ABOUT THE ROLE

An internal opportunity for a Purchase Ledger Officer to play a crucial role in maintaining professional and efficient practices within the Finance Department of the Social Interest Group and its subsidiaries. This position is essential for ensuring the organisation meets its financial and legal obligations, maximising the funds entrusted to us for our vulnerable residents and participants. Key responsibilities include managing transactional processing, overseeing payment runs and cycles, ensuring robust financial management and control, and maintaining compliance with standards. This role is part of the Finance team restructure at Head Office.

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday which could be 9:00-17:00 or 9:30-17:30 (3 days in office and 2 WFH)

ABOUT YOU 

The person in this post will have knowledge and understanding of procurement and pay cycles. They will be confident to take ownership of their projects, independent working as well as working part of a multidisciplinary team. They will be able to work proactively, using their own initiative in a fast-paced environment, where they can resolve challenges independently and can balance competing priorities. 

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

  • Proven appropriate experience in a similar role with similar responsibilities
  • IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, advanced knowledge in Microsoft, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to learn and manage relevant programs and systems
  • Ability to make commercially and value-driven balanced decisions, including the use of data to make decisions and reports
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple tasks and competing priorities within a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines

What we would like, but not essential:

  • Professional Relevant Qualification: AAT Level 3, CCAB, Degree in Accounting and Finance or other relevant professional qualification
  • Previous experience working in the charity sector and/or similar size organisation
  • Previous experience using cloud based or ERP Finance systems
  • Working knowledge of VAT rules within the charity sector
  • Ability to use numerical, analytical, and financial skills to analyse data for decision making and process improvements
